Hertfordshire Scouts London Monopoly Challenge - Scouts

Hertfordshire Scouts London Monopoly Challenge - Scouts

What is Hertfordshire Monopoly Challenge?

Monopoly Challenge is a life-sized version of the popular game taking place on Saturday 25 January 2025. Visit all the places on our Monopoly board, taking pictures around London and answering questions to gain Monopoly money to win the game.

Pick your team, find your mascot and get ready for the challenge!

Don’t forget to share your exploits on Facebook and on Instagram using #hertsscoutsmonopoly.

Where is Hertfordshire Monopoly Challenge held?

Hertfordshire Monopoly Challenge has been held in different locations, but over the last few live events it has been held in London. During lockdown, we went virtual which meant we could go international visiting may sights around the world!

This year, Monopoly Challenge will be held in London.

Who can enter Hertfordshire Monopoly Challenge?

Explorer Scout Teams/ Guide Teams

Scouts over 12+ and accompanied by a leader

Network Teams

Leader Teams

Guides and rangers

Visitor Teams

Visitor Teams are: a) teams from Scouting outside Hertfordshire or b) Other organisations (e.g. Girl Guiding, Cadets from Hertfordshire or elsewhere). Visitor teams are welcome in any of the above classes provided they fulfil the relevant criteria. All members of a Visitor Team must be members of the visiting organisation. Visiting Teams should satisfy their own organisations activity (c.f. Scout Association POR 9.1 Activity Rules etc.) and safeguarding requirements and prepare accordingly.

Cost

The cost for the event is £12.50 per head (includes badges).

In addition each participant will also need to purchase a London Travelcard. The Travelcard allows unrestricted access to London. You can use them on bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail and most National Rail services within London.

Where do I start and what time?

You will be given a specific start time for your team, this will be from 8.30 onwards.

The location for start will be around the Kings Cross area.

You have six hours to complete the challenge and return back to GO

Closing Ceremony

We have taken on board feedback from previous years that there was a lot of waiting around for teams to arrive back so we have taken the decision to have a live streamed results Webinar on Sunday evening. This is to reduce teams waiting around and also mass crowds.

What else do we need to know?

There is a maximum of six members per team and a minimum of four. If you are short, let us know and we can help you join with other units.

You will need at least two smartphones per team, fully-charged with sufficient mobile data remaining to run our team tracking app and to upload photographs

Your team mascot must be in every photo.

Teams must stay together during the whole event.

Younger Explorer teams may want to take a leader with them, but this is not a rule.

The closing date for applications is Friday 17 January 2025.
